Paleolithic Necklace
Materials: Fossilized Coral Stone, Copper, Brass, Nickel, Powder Glass Enamel
In my Art History I class, we had the option to complete an art project as our final, so I happily took that opportunity. It had to be based on three pieces of artwork from the periods we studied, and I chose the Paleolithic Era. I used the Hall of Bulls painting in Lascaux II for the centerpiece, Cueva de las Manos in Argentina for the enamel decorations throughout the chain, and Deer Hunt from Çatalhöyük for the hunters. Additionally, I added extra designs such as the bow and arrow toggle clasp and more designs along the chain. I worked for weeks on this project, combining techniques I had learned throughout the entire 10-week workshop course, and created a necklace that I am very proud to say that I made.
